“Tractor Path” Graphite on paper, 24”x30”, 2023
This piece captures a tranquil rural pathway framed by dense foliage, merging natural landscapes with intimate family moments. The central road invites the viewer to journey through layers of memory, with embedded snapshots of people, places, and scenes evoking nostalgia and personal connection. The blending of detailed nature and fragmented narratives reflects a balance between grounded reality and emotional introspection, encouraging reflection on how we carry fragments of the past in our present experiences.
“First Portrait” 2024, Graphite on paper, 7” x 7”
Using reference images from a close friend’s 3D ultrasound, I created a pencil portrait of her child before birth. This project was significant as it was my first introduction to my goddaughter. I aimed to capture the soft, delicate details with care in my line work, portraying the lining of the uterus as a warm blanket lovingly embracing the baby. As a woman living in a politically challenging time, where women’s rights and autonomy are frequently under threat, I felt this piece embodies a deeply personal perspective. Today, I firmly believe in every woman’s right to make decisions about her own body, honoring the power of choice and self-determination
